Anastomosis

Rooted in the idea of cross-connection—medically understood as the linking of blood vessels—this project weaves together people, programs, and urban systems to create a living network of support. Inviting ground planes connect the neighborhood to a shared plaza, encouraging interaction and dissolving boundaries between public and communal space. The project stitches the larger urban fabric to senior housing, market-rate housing, and a community center through a clear hierarchy of connections, from individual units to shared floors, and outward to the plaza and park. Multi-generational visiting nursing houses strengthen this framework by integrating care into daily life, fostering interaction, skill-sharing, and mutual support. Together, these layers form a resilient community where connection becomes the foundation for social well-being and expanded collective horizons
